Advent

My little girl, Moo, is almost 3 and is, for the first time, excited about Christmas. We have begun our Advent calendar. I bought a beautiful reusable vintage wooden box from Lark. It is more than I would usually spend but it was exactly what I wanted.

I want to make the lead up to Christmas fun and exciting but I also want to be able to teach Moo about the Christmas story. I bought an ebook called Truth in the Tinsel.
"Spend December impressing God’s Word on your kids’ heart! You’ll get 24 days of Scripture reading, ornament crafts, talking points and extension activities. Plus fun printables and templates!"
It did all the work for me and we are having fun making an ornament everyday.

We are also doing some family activities from The Little Book Club. Their advent calendar family activity list is here.

There is always time from more craft and playing. So I am planning to make some little finger puppets to enact the nativity story from Activity Village.

I like these too from hart of the mountain.

Calendars

This is the time of the year when I begin to think about what calendar I need for the next year. I like to have mine on my fridge. I like it to be simple and I like to be able to write on it. Miriam Bereson has a beautiful full year calendar which this year was a brilliant orange and came with a stovetop coffee maker magnet. 2012 is multi-coloured.
